16 December , Victory Day of BANGLADESH

Yesterday , Bangladesh celebrated 40th Victory Day, spending millions of BDT( Bangladeshi currency) by  different government organizations or non-government or socio- cultural organizations .But how many people or political leaders or intellectuals have ever highlighted the honest figure of achievements by 39 years.

Bangladesh won a monstrous war by defeating Pakistan within nine months in 1971; millions of innocents people lost their lives, properties, beloved persons .Millions of people sacrificed their everything with a hope of building a beautiful , corruption-free ,  poverty -free and a democratic Bangladesh .But unfortunately after 39 of independence , all the dreams and hopes are getting off now and Bangladesh is heading to a uncertain future with a gigantic burden of huge populations, corruptions at every level of government , unprecedented inflations every year, massive poverty, double-digit unemployment ,nepotism and hooligans at every spheres of the society.

Bangladesh has been branded as the most corrupted country for last couple of years and the police department of the government as the most  corrupted department of the country according to Transparency International( TI) .TI has disclosed this information just couple of days ago. All the governments have been the most powerful tool of corruptions since the independence of 1971. Bangladesh won the liberation war in1971 and very unfortunately Bangladesh lost the against Corruptions because  all the ruling political parties and most of the government organizations have corrupted since the very beginning of the Independence. Due to massive corruptions , poverty - alleviations programs failed absolutely and cosequently  inflation is getting up at an alarming rates .

Millions of people accepted the martyrdom for building up a beautiful Bangladesh , but corruptions, poverty , nepotism is destroying the dream of beautiful Bangladesh every moments.

Bangladesh Railway High School , Bhairab .

Bangladesh Railway High School , Bhairab  is my most favourite school and  is a land of heaps of sweet memories .Heaps of sweet memories are on the pages of this school. Wherever, I go  whether across the Pacific or the Atlantic or across the seven seas , all the while I miss the sweet days of my school .I belong to SSC batch ( Science) -1987  . Bangladesh Railway High School , Bhairab  is not only my most favourite school , it was one of the best schools in Kishoregonj district at that time. My best class friends were Sadik , Mokul , Shahidullah , and I forgot others' names .

There is a big gamut of  many sweet memories around my school -life, but the most melancholic and most horrible day , when the whole  school building and adjacent areas more than one square kilometre collasped and straightaway submerged in the mighty river Meghna , probably due to river-erosion, still the reason is mysterious ( scientifically not proven ) .Unfortunately I forgot the date of this black day and probably it was in 1988 . But still I can remember ; next day, all the daily newspaper published this incident as first page -headline news. What we see  the location of the school today is the new the new location . Still sometimes I can visualise the school premises on the very bank of the Meghna , all our sweet memories over there. The premises of our school where we studied , we spent our days is now the river-bed of the Meghna ! Maybe , there are heaps of  Dolphins, different species of fishes are dwelling over there  !

Australian dollar $AU .

The race between Australian dollar and US dollar has been news head lines for couple of days, because Australian dollar$AU has already reached the parity. Australian currency was first introduced by Prime Minister Andrew Fisher in 1910 and the currency was known as Australian pound consisting of twenty shillings  each consisting of twelve pence. Prior to this, Pound Sterling was being used as currency in Australia.
The Australian dollar was introduced in 1966, by replacing the Australian pound  but also introducing a decimal system. The Australian Prime Minister Robert Menzies wished to name the currency "the Royal", and other names such as "the Austral" and "the Koala" were also proposed.

Each Australian dollar is composed of 100 cents. The smallest coin in current circulation is equal to five cents, the one and two cent coins having been discontinued in 1990-92 and withdrawn from circulation . Australian notes are made of polymer.

                                   April 2001 ,1 $AU = US 47 cents

                October 2010 ,1 $AU = $ US 1.006

Corruption and poverty .

Corruption is a simple word but I would like to term this word as a "disease" of human being ; the history of this disease is very ancient ; its root is very wide-spread , nature is always very ferocious ; at present , it has got a monstrous forms .Millions of people of the world are suffering from severe poverty and leading a horrible life style with income of less than one dollar per day. Poverty is a direct outcome of corruption in the society, whether it may be political corruptions, social corruptions, or administrative corruptions or international corruptions.Poverty and corruptions continue in a paralleled way , if corruptions go up , simultaneouly  poverty will go up. we need to break the vicious circle of poverty and corruption , otherwise it will bring the destruction of human civilization.

Common Law

Some times people get confused about the term " Common law", because this is not widely used term. Some of the guys think that it is common every where , that is why it common law , but from the perspective of law it is different, actually common law was originated and developed in England and later it was establish in different colonies of England like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Malaysia and Australia .

In Australia , law can be classified in two categories from the perspective of origin of law ;

1. Statutory law

2. Common law

Statutory law is made by the federal parliament or state parliament or by the local governments. On the other hand common law was originally developed in England by judges, by verdicts of cases , by customs of the society or by precedents.Common law does have statutory relevancy or connections, these laws have been developed by ages. But verdicts and decisions of different outstandind cases and precedents have played the vital roles in the development of common law in England and Australia.

An Inconvenient Truth

"An Inconvenient truth" one of the best documentary movie , I have ever seen in my life.I have seen this movie many many times.Movie or muli-media is one of the best way to convey any sort of information to people.I think , every people , all the kids and the family members of our world should watch this documentary.Because this film will make us understand how much environmental damages are being made every minutes to our planet earth. Most of the people of our world are not aware of the severity and the extreme consequences of the environmental destructions , and most of these are being done by some of the rich and big industrialist countries of our world. Our greeds, our selfishness, our unfriendly- attitudes to our environment is taking our whole world to the dooms day very fast.

The Natural Disasters Risk Indexation # one : Bangladesh

The Natural Disasters Risk Index (NDRI), has been released by global risks advisory firm Maplecroft of Britain . This new report has disclosed a horrible picture for BANGLADESH , Indonesia and Iran. This indexation has been calculated by measuring the human impact of natural disasters, in terms of deaths per annum and per million of population, and the frequency of these sorts of events over the last 30 years. The methodology has been refined to reflect the likelihood of an event occurring and covers disasters including earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, storms, flooding, drought, landslides, extreme temperatures and epidemics.

There are 15 countries rated as "extreme risk" in the ranking, including N11 members Bangladesh (1), Indonesia (2) and Iran (3), with Asian heavyweights, India (11) and China (12) also in the highest risk category. These are the same countries that are projected to set leading growth trends amongst emerging economies. According to IMF estimates Bangladesh grew 5.49% in 2009, Indonesia 4.54% and Iran 1.82%, whilst China grew 8.73% and India 5.66%.

Over the last 30 years Bangladesh lost 191,637 deaths as a result of major natural disasters, with storms claiming 167,178 lives. Indonesia has lost 191,105 lives over the same period, but 165,708 of these casualties were caused by the tsunami in December 2004. Earthquakes are the major vulnerability factor in Iran where approximately 74,000 deaths have occurred as a result of seismic events.
India is subject to a wide variance of events and has lost 141,961 of its population to major natural disasters since 1980, including 50,000 to earthquakes, 40,000 to floods, 15,000 to epidemics and 23,000 to storms. China has suffered more losses than India, with 148,417, but a high concentration of these occurred during the 2008 Sichuan earthquake where 87,476 people lost their lives.
"Due to climate change, extreme hydro-meteorological events are predicted to increase," continued Dr Moss. "Business risks include damage to assets; interruptions to operations from the breakdown of infrastructure like transport and power networks; plus there can be devastating impacts on local workforces. This makes it essential that businesses plan for the possibility of a disruptive natural disaster."
According to Maplecroft's results, it is not just developing nations that organisations need to have contingency plans for, as three G8 member states are rated as "high risk." France (17) and Italy (18) are the most vulnerable countries in Europe; mainly because of the heat waves in 2003 and 2006 where over 40,000 people died, whilst the U.S. (37) is highly susceptible to hurricanes and storms, which have claimed 8,400 lives over 30 years. Japan (41), Germany (50), Russia (54) and Canada (107) are all rated "medium risk," whereas the UK (111) is considered "low risk."

Zero supply to push Sydney rents sky high

I wrote this article in October ,2007. Two years ago what was assumption , today it is down to earth. The name of the article /topics, which I am going to discuss article “ Zero supply to push Sydney rents sky high ” written by Richard Hemming published in daily news paper "The Australian Financial Review "on 10th May 2007. The article indicates that rents are increasing very rapidly in the Sydney market (CBD) over the next two years. Because the demand of office space in Sydney CBD is increasing very much , on the other hand the supply of office space is decreasing. About the scarcity of the renting space , the writer of the article highlights the statements of Mark Clapham senior director of CB Richard Ellis’s –“ It is the year we are calling the ‘Sydney gap ’ and we have not seen this before , where nothing is coming on in one year . We are expecting rents to grow at double –digits rates instead of low single –digit rates, which we have seen in the last three years. ” (The Australian Financial Review 10 may) .The article also indicates that this scarcity of supply of office space is diminishing not only in Sydney but also in Brisbane and Perth. This article has also published some important data to highlight the supply and demand of office space in Sydney CBD , how much the demand has increased and how much the supply has decreased in recent few years . About the future, the writer predicts that no commercial office renting place is supposed to come onto the Sydney CBD market place in 2009. So it is obvious that the main issue of this article is the supply and demand of commercial renting space in the Sydney CBD market, and analyzing the reason why the price is increasing so sky high. The writer has given us the answer. He claimed that the zero supply of commercial renting space is liable for increasing rent so high.
This article can be analyzed from the perspective of microeconomics. Because the main issue of this article is the supply and demand of commercial renting space in the Sydney CBD market .Moreover supply and demand are also the most important aspects of microeconomics.
So it is very obvious that supply and demand , these two phenomenon are closely related to microeconomics .They are the two most commonly used terms in economics. Their interaction widely affect economic variable of real life . This sort of reflection has been presented in the above mentioned article. If we discuss supply and demand and their interaction from the perspective of economic theory or models . Then it should be easy for us to understand why the rent of commercial office space has increased so rapidly in Sydney CBD. Supply and demand are the two most prominent economic event of microeconomics in real life. Without these two events, it is impossible to think about economics .On the other hand price and market these two important variables are also closely interacted with supply and demand. The interaction of supply and demand obviously brings the impact on the price and which is visible on the market. Now it should be better to discuss all the economic variable, supply, demand, price and market in order to explain the relationship between these variables and the above mentioned article. About all these variable the Stonecash ,Gans ,King and Mankiw( 2003, p 64)states “A market is a group of buyers and sellers of a particular good or service .The buyers as a group determine the demand for the product , and the sellers as a group determine the supply of the product ”. So it is obvious, market is one of the pre-requisite condition for supply and demand. The physical existence or nature of market can be different on depending on the nature supply and demand of goods. But it is expected in economics that markets should be competitive. Usually a competitive market indicates that there should be a lot of buyers and sellers in the market, so that impact on the price can be very less or negligible ( Stonecash, et al , 2003) . In the above mentioned article, the market is commercial renting space in Sydney CBD. In this market, the impact on the price of renting commercial space is very high. Because in this market the number of seller is less but the number of buyer are many. As a result it has made a serious impact on the price; price has grown up so high within few years.
We should justify the market of commercial renting space in Sydney CBD from the perspective of supply and demand. It is obvious that almost all of the economic events or variables are the interaction of these two events. Supply is one of the most important economic events. Supply indicates that the quantity of goods or the amount of services, that the manufacturers or producer can provide in the market for sale. The nature of supply can be in different sorts of, some of them can be goods or some of them can be services. The main issue of these topics is the supply of commercial rental office space in Sydney CBD. Now it can be discussed in this topics about implications of the economic law of supply in the supply of commercial rental office space in Sydney CBD , or how the consequences of law of supply has been reflected in this situation .
Economic theory of supply indicates that the supply of goods increases in the markets , because the price goes up in the market , on the other hand if the supply of goods decreases in the market , due to the decrease of price in the market On the other hand the theory of demand indicates that when the price of any goods goes up ,then the demand of that goods goes down and if the demand goes down then the price goes down as well. Different economic theories indicate that supply, demand and price all are closely interrelate with each other. Every market has got two most important aspects, they are supply and demand and their interaction determine the price of a goods in the market. The relationship the price of a goods and the quantity demanded is depicted by a graph which is known as demand curve, on the other hand the relationship between the price of a goods and the quantity supplied is depicted by a graph which is known as supply curve . With the help of these tools (demand curve and supply curve) the price rise of commercial renting space in Sydney CBD can be easily understood. It can be mentioned here the writer of the newspaper article has presented one graph in the article so that the readers can easily understand the main idea. Thus sometimes different sorts of graph are used to highlight economic variables. From the topics of newspaper we can understand about the supply and demand of commercial office space renting in Sydney CBD , all the statistics given in the newspaper article indicates that supply of office space has decreased tremendously , on the other hand demand of office space is increasing at large scale , as result it has made serious impact on the price and the price of renting space has gone up too much in recent few years.

Carbon emission

In summer, temperature goes up at extreme level in some Asian countries like, Bangladesh,Indian ,Pakistan or in African countries or in Europe or America. On the other hand ,during the winter temperature goes down at extreme level of mercury in Europe ,Asia or America: just couple months ago wild freezing winter in Great Britain for couple of weeks continuously, which is unprecedented. Sea level is going up; consequently, some coastal countries are going to be engulfed by sea: their mainlands are going to be shrinked gradually,as a result ,millions of people are turning into homeless every year .Bangladesh, India are the glaring examples of this phenomenon; people of coastal areas of these two countries are terrible victims of sea level every year. Most of thepeople of these areas very poor and uneducated.Due to sea level rise , they lost all of their lands, properties and even their homes. Being homeless, they are trying to migrate to different parts of the country or to some other countries of the world. But unfortunately none of them know , why they are homeless, rather they blame their destiny.Sea level rise is the direct consequent of global warming; carbon emission is mostly liable for global warming.Any educated person can understand all the causes of carbon emission and which countries are responsible for excessive carbon emission. At present some of the poor countries are facing the disasters of global warming but sooner or later all the countries of world must face the dangerous consequences of global warming.

Long Way to home

I wanna get the smell of soil

but its long way

to get the touch of dew drops of morning

on the grass

to touch the sky line of the endless blue

but above all

I wanna get the smell of soil

I wanna touch my soil.

Soil of my love

soil of my heart

soil of my bones

Soil of my all ancestors.

Aganagar and Bhairab bazar

        MOHIUDDIN AHMED

Aganagar is one of the Union Councils ( Union Parishad ) of Bhairab Thana of Kishoreganj district .Most of the villages of this union council are in low-lying areas and during the rainy season all of them look like islands. The lives of the people of these villages are pretty hard and frequently their lives are affected by different sort of Natural disasters

My father Mohiuddin Ahmed  was one of the persons who had spent most of his life to develop the fates of thousands of poor,  and uneducated villagers around his village Aganagar . Locally he was known to people as Bacchu Mia . During 1960s, 70s it was very popular name to people . He used love  and care his people and vice-versa.

He was born in Aganagar in 1920s .He completed his Bachelor of Arts( BA) from Govt.Comilla Victoria college in early 1950s. And he was the first who completed Bachelor Degree at that time in Aganagar and adjacent areas .Even his father Monir Uddin Ahmed had his SSC ( at this time known as Entrance ) in early 1920s though Mohiuddin Ahmed lost his father in his childhood but he was strongly motivated by patriotism .

He could have joined in Civil Service , rather joining in any lucrative job he engaged himself in teaching .He worked as Lecturer in a college ; later joined in a school as Headmaster. After working couple of years in teaching then he got back to his own village Aganagar . He had been elected Chairman of Aganagar Union Council for couple of times until 1971.

During the liberation war of Bangladesh in 1971 he helped the Freedom fighters in a large scale by taking the risk of his own life. A  large contingent of freedom fighters used his house as reservoir of their arms and ammunitions during the liberation war of 1971 . During the tenure of his chairmanship he tired to develop the communication infrastructure by building up many bridges. He tried couple of times to established a High School in Aganagar but some anti- social , criminal groups vandalised his great project every time..He dedicated his whole life for the development of his own society . He was  a silent partriot and never liked to be expoused. This great patriot paid the debt of nature with couple years struggle with cancer on 10 th August 1985 ( may ALLAH rest his soul in Heaven forever) .

Blue Mountains

Out back Australia is fascinating, whenever you travell out back, then it is terribly difficult to get back to city of bricks, concrete and life of hassles.Couple of months ago me and my wife visited BlueMountains.the scenic beauties of this place is awe-some.The whole sites belong to City of Blue Mountains. Its almost 100km from Sydney.Every year millions of tourists visit this attractions, apart from the native visitors. This is one of the World heritage sites in NSW, Australia. This place is very significant from the perspective of ecological and envioronmental, still thousands of very very ancients trees, which are are more than 2/3 hundred years; and the rocks of this area are probably millions of years old. Every where is so green and lush, unbelievalbe.Three big rocks connected together for more than thousands of years. Still they are know as "Three Sisters".what has impressed me that I have been able too see such an ancient place and trees and rocks in intact situation. Moreover, the altitude of the place is more than 1 km from sea level.-
