If we see a comparative price- study of electricity , then obviously the result will come up that the price of electricity is skyrocketing in Australia ; what is very devastating for thousands of Australian families. Electricity is the most expensive in Australia than any other countries of the world. Carbon tax and infrastructure costs are enhancing the electricity-price to horrible extent . The Independent Pricing And Regulatory Tribunal (IPART) has given permission to increase the price 16.4% in NSW for 2012-13 due to " rising network costs and the introduction of the carbon tax " .

IPART chairman Dr Peter Boxall said "the proposed price increases would be difficult for many customers but were necessay to ensure that the retailers can recover the costs of providing electricity and remain financially viable ".
